WASHINGTON DC – The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) awarded Verizon Public Sector five Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) task orders to modernize the existing network infrastructure, including data, voice, unified communications, video services, and business applications for its 20,000 users. Verizon Public Sector’s partnership with DOL will result in a highly secure, converged voice and data network at nearly 1,000 locations.

Verizon will partner with DOL to drive adoption of innovative technologies with a custom managed services solution that will support enterprise connectivity. The first task order will transform and modernize the IT backbone of the DOL with a new network architecture design to build a managed network with free data, voice and calling services. The second order of work will continue existing work to transform DOL’s audio and web conferencing services with a number of custom usability and flexibility options.

The third task order enables the immediate delivery of content delivery network (CDNS) services. Verizon Public Sector will evolve these services to deliver enhanced capabilities, creating an enterprise-level cloud environment as the basis for implementing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS).

The fourth task order will focus on the DOL Managed Trusted Internet Protocol (MTIPS) service and call for the installation of MTIPS ports for the DOL’s seven data centers across the country.

The fifth task order will support the deployment of Unified Communications Services (UCS) to accommodate the 20,000 DOL end users. UCS will integrate several methods of communication, including a switch to IP-based voice and video services that will allow DOL staff to connect, collaborate and exchange information wirelessly and transparently.

Finally, thanks to a work order previously issued as part of another solicitation, Verizon Public Sector was able to shift DOL’s Collocated Hosting Service (CHS) requirements from its previous GSA Networx contract to the contract vehicle. EIS. This will reduce the IT infrastructure and management costs of DOL and provide access to a scalable data center environment as the needs of the department change.

“These awards further strengthen our role as a provider of end-to-end digital solutions for our government customers,” said Jennifer Chronis, senior vice president of public sector at Verizon. “Our next-generation technology and modernized network services are helping to transform the way DOL serves its constituents, now and in the future. “
