“Therefore, it is important for the public service to review compensation plans from time to time.”

During the pandemic, public service employees must take on additional roles, such as assisting with COVID-19 operations, he noted.

“They would face constant challenges in balancing the various tasks so assigned, affecting their emotional and mental well-being, and facing a lack of work-life balance for some of them,” he said. -he declares.

The “greatest challenge” facing public service employees would be to maintain service quality and meet public expectations while adapting to the changing landscape and work demands, he said. he adds.

Adding that AUPE understands the challenges and “appreciates the hard work”, Mr Tiwari said the union will “continue to reach out” to its public service members for support and assistance.

It will also encourage public service agencies to consider the challenges faced by their employees during the pandemic and to practice an “empathetic approach”, he said.
