On Wednesday, February 9, 2022, three members of the Northwestern FFA Chapter participated in the District Public Speaking competition held at Glen Oak High School.
Taylor Wurst entered the Advanced Prepared Speech Contest. She prepared a 5-7 minute speech to present in the contest, along with answers to questions about her topic. His topic was “Drug Use in Horses”. Throughout his talk, Wurst explained different drugs used in horses and their effects. Following his presentation, there was a 5-minute question period. In the competition, she placed 1st.
Kayla Cutter entered the prepared speech contest for the debut. The subject of his 4-6 minute speech was “A Leader’s Body Language”. She explained the different types of body language and how they are presented in leaders. After his presentation, there was a 5-minute question period on his speech. She placed 2nd. Kelsee Smith entered the FFA Creed Speaking Contest. This competition is based on a member’s knowledge of the FFA creed, as well as their ability to present the creed. After his presentation, there was a 5-minute question period on the FFA Creed. She placed 3rd in the competition.
Wurst will move on to state competition on Saturday, March 5 in Marysville, Ohio. Good luck!
