India and Singapore held a virtual bilateral meeting under the auspices of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Civil Service Division (PSD), Prime Minister’s Office , Singapore in June 2018 on the subject of “” Personnel management and public administration “.

The bilateral meeting was chaired by DARPG Secretary Sanjay Singh from the Indian side and Loh Khum Yean, Permanent Secretary of PSD Singapore.

The two sides shared their experiences on good governance practices in the event of a pandemic, transformation of leadership and ethics, capacity building and training of leaders and public officials, citizen-centered governance, and service delivery and citizen-centered e-governance as potential areas for future collaboration during the meeting.

Since the scope of cooperation established under the MoU is important for development processes, the two sides agreed to share best practices on the latest technological tools and processes of governance, capacity building, of service delivery so that both countries can -learn.

High level visit

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in 2018, 3 memoranda of understanding in the areas of urban and rural development were signed by private and public sector institutions as well as by the NITI Aayog think tank.

India and Singapore enjoy strong bilateral relations based on similar economic and political interests. Since the early 1990s, India’s economic reforms, along with traditional cultural and trade ties, have paved the way for a strong economic partnership between the two countries. Defense and security cooperation

In the area of ​​defense in particular, India and Singapore have a long-standing and comprehensive partnership, which includes annual dialogues at ministerial and secretary level, personnel-level talks between the three wings of the armed forces. , annual Singapore Army and Air Force training in India, annual exercises including India’s longest continuous naval exercise with any other country, Navy and Coast Guard vessel tours .

Singapore is participating in the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) of the Indian Navy and in the multilateral exercise MILAN. Membership of IORA for Singapore and ADDM + (ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting – Plus) for India provides a platform for the two countries to coordinate their positions on regional issues of mutual importance.

Develop smart cities

Amaravati, the future capital of Andhra Pradesh, is developed by a group of Singaporean companies. Singapore is also collaborating with Rajasthan on conceptual plans for the townships of Udaipur and Jodhpur. The country is also working with Himachal Pradesh on the creation of an integrated township of Greater Shimla and with Maharashtra on the development of Orange Smart City and the master planning of the metropolitan region of Pune.
