On Friday September 3, the independent school Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel congratulated some of its learners who took part in the online English speaking competition On the tip of your tongue.

Grade 11 student Tamarah Correia received 86% for her persuasive speech in English, while Grade 9 Mothokozisi Masilela also received 86% sterling.

Positive feedback was received from the referees and indicated that the speeches of both learners were loud, calm and collected, both learners had a good connection with their audience members and remained focused.

Grade 11 Tejal Hansrajh received 91% for his persuasive speech in English, “The Anthropology of Genocide” and made it to the final round of the national competition to be held later in September.

The hard work paid off for the learners at Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel independent school while also being under the watchful eye of teachers Thato Morapedi and Cristina Ruela who guided and prepared them.

Grade 10 student Zulaike Cousins ​​received 83% in the online competition Oppie Tong Af while Grade 11 Tejal Hansrajh received 86% for his individual Afrikaans oorredingstoespraak.

Zulaike and Tejal were prepared by teacher Chantelle Murdoch who ensured that her learners were equipped with the necessary skills.

Oppie Tong Af / On The Tip Of Your Tongue is a non-profit, a project that aims to develop learners in Grades 1 to 12 into future leaders able to communicate with confidence in front of an audience and bring about change. .
