Sales manager – Inside IR35

The team plays a key role in developing and building capacity to embed a culture of business excellence supporting key operational and policy objectives. He works in partnership with all areas of the business and is a key influencer on strategic decisions, setting a sustainable travel direction, embracing innovation and ultimately delivering the greatest value.

Within these roles, you will be exposed to a variety of business challenges ranging from business cases and procurement to contract management, providing advice and input to projects in different business areas based on the priorities of the company. These roles are expected to be practical and challenging positions with the potential to find creative solutions.

As a sales manager, your main missions would be as follows:

  • Act as the department’s business advisor, providing advice, guidance and support to the Business Unit to help understand business opportunities and consequences
  • Build effective relationships within your business unit (and where applicable with other central government organizations), fostering trust and transparency to enable you to provide the highest level of business advice and guidance
  • Work with other team members to enable continuous improvement and business capacity development across the business unit.
  • Provide targeted practical assistance in procurement or contract management, as appropriate, for example when a procurement contract or activity is identified as being at risk or of great importance
  • Work with the relevant trade manager to implement any new government trade policy across the department, collaborating with the government trade function and other intergovernmental departments as necessary
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that a strong commercial pipeline and contract registry is in place for the business unit, working in partnership with the Central Commercial Pipeline Manager

You will have:

  • MCIPS or work towards
  • Experience working in a commercial setting in government or the public sector
  • In-depth knowledge of public sector procurement regulations
  • Understanding of business management techniques, contracts and supplier relations and demonstrated experience of applying them in practice
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills including the ability to advise and guide stakeholders and build relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Ability to assess and present complex contractual issues resulting in sound recommendations to senior management for solutions
  • Experience leading a range of business projects independently
  • In-depth knowledge of various public sector executives
