WeSpeak Bermuda’s first in-person women’s boot camp since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic is sold out.

The one-day event to mentor women’s public speaking skills is scheduled for Wednesday, April 20 at the Willowbank Resort in Sandys Parish.

With over 150 women registered to attend, it is now at full capacity.

“We’ve had a fantastic response, not only from our participating coaches, but also from the dozens of women who have signed up to compete in this first major physical event in two years,” said Kendaree Burgess, board member of administration of WeSpeak.

“We greatly appreciate the support and have capped the number at this stage to ensure the success of the popular boot camp format, which relies on intimate groups to allow women to better develop their speaking skills.

“Contained size is also necessary to organize a diversity that reflects both our community and its variety of industries.”

She added: “We are looking forward to an amazing event – a big thank you to our valued sponsors for making it possible.

“If you missed signing up for this training camp, don’t worry. There will be many more opportunities to get involved very soon with WeSpeak. Stay tuned!”

Boot Camp marks a return to active engagement for WeSpeak this year.

It kicks off with 9:15 a.m. registration for a 9:30 a.m. departure and features an interactive program of presentations and workouts; lunch and refreshments are provided.

Sessions conclude at 5:30 p.m., when guests are invited to join an on-site reception to close out the day.

WeSpeak was launched in 2019 to build skills and promote more public speaking opportunities for women; the group also advocates for the inclusion of more women on industry roundtables and as speakers.

Its popular boot camps, including an edition for teens, garnered strong support and featured public speaking tips, educational sessions and small group presentations aimed at building confidence within a support network.

WeSpeak was largely unable to hold large-scale in-person events during the 2020 and 2021 pandemic, but held several virtual sessions to support and stay connected with coaches and trainers.

Corporate support for the April 20 boot camp includes WeSpeak partners Appleby, Butterfield, Chubb and EY, as well as event sponsors Ascot, the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Bermuda, Athene, Clarien, Dennis Mahoney – Lighthouse, Markel, Mosaic Insurance, Orbis and Vantage.
